The New DJI Mavic 3 Enterprise Drones
Overview
DJI is leading the way with the evolution of drone technology with its ever-growing lineup of both consumer drones and enterprise drones.
Their latest offering is the DJI Mavic 3 Enterprise range including both the Enterprise (DJI Mavic 3E) and Thermal (DJI Mavic 3T) which has superseded the very popular DJI Mavic 2 Enterprise range.
In this post, we will be looking at the specifications, software compatibility, and use cases to see where the DJI Mavic 3 Enterprise range sits in today’s growing drone industry.
DJI Mavic 3 Enterprise Range
As mentioned above, the DJI Mavic 3 Enterprise range is the latest offering from the very popular drone manufacturer DJI.
The Mavic 3 Enterprise range takes over from the Mavic 2 enterprise range that was released back in October 2018 and proved to be very popular with professionals. Much like the Mavic 3 Enterprise the Mavic 2 Enterprise has a simultaneous release with both the Enterprise and Enterprise Dual (thermal) being made available.
The Mavic 3 Enterprise range also has a simultaneous release with both the Enterprise (DJI M3E) and Thermal (DJI M3T) available from the release date.
So let’s talk more about the DJI Mavic 3 Enterprise range’s specifications.
DJI M3E Specifications:
- Dual Camera
- Camera One: M4/3 Wide, 20MP, Mechanical Shutter
- Camera Two: Telephoto, 12MP, 56x Hybrid Zoom
- 4K @ 30fps (130 Mbps)
- 4 Directional Optical Obstacle Avoidance
- Compact and Portable
- 45 Minute Maximum Flying Time
DJI M3T Specifications:
- Tri-Camera
- Camera One: 24mm, 48MP, Electronic Shutter
- Camera Two: Telephoto, 12MP, 56x Hybrid Zoom
- Camera Three: Thermal, 640 × 512 Resolution
- 4K @ 30fps (85 Mbps)
- 4 Directional Optical Obstacle Avoidance
- Compact and Portable
- 45 Minute Maximum Flying Time
As you can see from the camera specifications the camera has been upgraded on the M3E from the original M2E and is now a fixed micro 4/3 camera giving you a wider view and a larger sensor, therefore, collecting more data. This also increases the low light capability of the M3E.
Amongst other upgrades, the flight time has been increased from the M2E’s 31 minutes to 45 minutes on the M3E
The M3T has also seen significant upgrades over the M2 Dual with increased flight time and the addition of a larger telephoto lens. The telephoto capability has also been increased from 32x zoom on the M2 to 56x zoom on the M3.
Both the M3E and M3T are modular and can be fitted with RTK modules for increased accuracy.

Use-Cases
Much like it predecessor the M3E has many varying use cases, from mapping to inspection, it is a very versatile drone that is adaptable to many use cases.
One of the major advantages with both the M3E and M3T is that they both include a telephoto lens making it ideal for inspection purposes where getting to close to the asset could either be dangerous or inaccessible.
The M3E also has the M4/3 (micro four thirds) lens giving you a wider view of your asset along with the larger sensor size. This enables you to collect more data in the field and shortening your time in the air collecting data which is ideal for mapping and photogrammetry.

Software Support
When DJI release a new drone they also release a software development kit, more commonly known as an SDK.
The SDK enables third party developers to integrate their software to work with the drone.
